ERIC A. MERTZ
Eric was born in Defiance Ohio, July 24, 1954. He graduated from Ohio State University with a B.A. in 1976 and from the University of Toledo Law School in 1979. He served on the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers from 1991-2001.
A life-long resident Defiance, Ohio, Eric maintains a general practice of law with emphasis on personal injury litigation and family law. He is Board Certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. NBTA has been approved by the Supreme Court Commission on Certification of Attorneys as Specialists in the State of Ohio. Eric's devotes 100% of his practice to trial work. Eric is also a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which recognizes exceptional skill, experience and excellence in advocacy by achieving a trial verdict, settlement or award in excess of one million dollars.
Outside the courtroom, Eric has enjoyed watching his three children grow up. Eric served as a coach in the community for all age groups in several sports, coaching The Defiance Strikers for over fifteen years and in youth basketball at multiple levels. He has also organized donor and fundraising events for St. Mary's Catholic Church.
